From Webster’s: “sanctuary 1: a consecrated place: as a: the ancient Hebrew temple at Jerusalem or its holy of holies b (1): the most sacred part of a religious building (as the part of a Christian church in which the altar is placed) (2): the room in which general worship services are held (3): a place (as a church or a temple) for worship2 a (1): a place of refuge and protection (2): a refuge for wildlife where predators are controlled and hunting is illegal b: the immunity from law attached to a sanctuary.”
This is my sanctuary.
I have my quiet time here. We eat meals here. We have serious discussions out here. We bring the small tv out here and eat popcorn and watch movies out here.
When I first read the definition of sanctuary, I thought I would pull some of the definitions out, as they really didn’t apply to my back porch, my sanctuary. I felt a nudge to relook and rethink the definitions and guess what? They all apply.
This morning, there is a breeze blowing, no humidity. The temps are hovering around 70 degrees. The sun is shining and the sky is bluer than it’s been all of this hot, hazy, humid summer. The first taste of Fall, my favorite time of year.
I leave you with this one last glimpse of my porch.
And a side note.
I don’t need this space to have my quiet time. My Sanctuary is my God, my Rock, my Dwelling Place.
WOW! I am officially jealous. That truly is my dream view.>>You are blessed to be someone who can stop long enough to enjoy it.>>~Natalee>>PS. Guess you must have been out there for a reason today … ๐
