Let’s Plan our Thanksgiving Meal.

Thanksgiving Menu. What’s everyone having for Thanksgiving? We have friends who always have Italian food. Yum. We also have friends who always have Greek food. Double yum. We are going traditional:

Roasted Turkey. The Big Boy wants to try frying every year. So far, we have successfully avoided it. This year we are stepping out of our comfort zone and brine the bird.

Stuffing/dressing. We call it stuffing. Who calls it dressing? I know everyone says this, but my Momma’s stuffing is the best. Ever. I can never reproduce it to my liking. I try every year and will continue to.

Sweet potatoes. Casserole? Roasted? With marshmallows or without? We like ours with Kahlua.
Mash potatoes.
Corn pudding.
Green beans.

Ambrosia. Not with whipped cream…with sour cream. My mom’s recipe.
Cranberry sauce. With berries or without?
Apple Butter.
Olives…green (jarred) and black (canned).
Sweet gherkins.
Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, apple pie.

Okay, your turn. What are you cooking this Thanksgiving? Or, even better, are you going out somewhere to eat? Where?

  1. We are so looking forward to the best thing….time with our families…all of them together–quite a rarity.
Looking forward to a wonderful meal at your house. All the above and carrot raisin salad a Smith tradition.
    Can't wait!

  2. Try grilling the whole turkey. Donnie found the instructions inline and it was delish. Not sure what we are doing for thanksgiving this year. I'll cook a bunch of stuff just for us cuz it ain't thanksgiving if you don't have leftovers for days. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Turkey, bourbon honey glazed ham, crockpot stuffing, sweet potato casserole, no marshmallows – but I'd like your recipe with Kahlua please, mash potatoes, corn casserole, green beans and broccoli cheese casserole. Cranberry sauce, definitely no berries.

Pecan pie, Key lime pie and ice cream for my pie haters.

Last year we ate at the O'Club. OK, but it meant no leftovers and that was the pits. This year we're at home .. hopefully with some geo-bachelors or orphan Marines.

  4. A couple of years ago, we started doing a venison roast for Thanksgiving. Mom makes the turkey and we make the roast. I love turkey but I think there is something so cool about eating the venison my husband hunted on Thanksgiving. Makes me feel like a pilgrim but also thankful for groceries stores. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Turkey-we always brine, and have fried. Not sure which way we're doing it this year…

Stuffing – Jo I need that Crock Pot Stuffing recipe too!

Mashed Potatoes, peas (the little tiny tender ones, not the big gushy ones), sweet potatoes, candied of course, rolls, butter, cranberry/orange relish, apple and pumpkin pies. I'd make mince, but I'm the only one that likes it. Hmmmm…I'd have to eat it all myself!!
