Today I had the brilliant idea of digging through some of my old writing on my website. The website I just totally overhauled, by the way.
I thought I was going through old blog posts looking for things I might update and share again.
I wasn’t expecting to find my life.
There I was in 2007, writing about teenagers and marriage and books and losing weight and trying to listen to God. I wrote about ordinary afternoons and birthdays and things my children said that I was certain I’d never forget.
Except, of course, I did.
And now I’m reading those words almost twenty years later.
I know how some of those stories turned out.
I know which prayers were answered. I know which seasons ended before I was ready. I know those teenagers grew up. I know there would be weddings and devastating goodbyes and hard years and beautiful ones.
As I picked through a handful of blog posts, I found myself snorting with laughter, nodding my head, turning away for a moment to reflect, and, not surprisingly…teary-eyed.
I started this little project because I thought I might find some old writing worth sharing again.
Instead, I think I’m finding pieces of myself.
