May 6, 1991.

Twenty-nine years ago today, I stopped taking the meds that had been keeping contractions at bay for 10 weeks. My body was exhausted, medication keeping me awake at night and restless and anxious during the day. I had been on complete bed rest but, following my 36 week check up, my doc decided it was safer for me and baby girl to go off the Terbutaline and let her come, if that was going to happen. We already knew she would be whisked away to NICU shortly after birth for evaluation if she did, indeed arrive at 36 weeks gestation. My doctor was certain the buildup of Terbutaline and bed rest would give us at least another week before delivery.

Famous. Last. Words.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the rest of the story.

  1. Terbutaline…I hate that stuff!!! Same with Jordan. Took the stuff round the clock and it was awful!!!! And you were correct…there was no build up, no grace period. Within 24 hours I was in labor but didn’t realize it. I though he was just making me miserable because I was soooo big! šŸ™‚
